
Isla Sawyers, of Penrith-based North Lakes Gymnastics Academy, has been crowned British vault champion.
The 15-year-old took the top ranking in the national development plan (NDP) performance Grade 3 category at the prestigious British Gymnastics women’s artistic finals, held at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday.
This outstanding achievement marks Isla’s third appearance at a national final event where she once again represented the North of England.
She competed against a cohort of exceptional gymnasts from across Great Britain, delivering an impressive vault performance that captivated both judges and spectators.
In addition to this success, Isla earned a British silver medal at the same event in 2024. She is a student at Carlisle’s Trinity School.
