Members of Mark Holding Mitsuru karate attended the Berlin International Open as part of the northern region England team.
They were led by regional coach Mark Holding and the following medals were won, with all squad members taking either an individual or team prize:
Aidan Docherty, silver, under-21, -84kg; also bronze senior men’s, -84kg. Jamie Gates, gold, under-10, -35kg; and gold under-10 open category. Jed Thompson, bronze, senior, -67kg. Daniel Bartoletta, silver, Ind, under-18, -61kg. Francesco Corrias, bronze, under-14, -44 kg. Glyn Dawson, gold, under-16, -70kg. Idris Dawson, silver, under-18, -76kg. George Malone, silver, under-16, -57kg.
Boys’ under-16 team, silver — Glyn Dawson, George Malone, Toby Axtell.
Amber Allsop, gold, +68kg; Eve Holdsworth silver; Kate Hambleton, bronze. Kate also took bronze in 18+ open and 18-plus +68kg. Ruby Alderson, bronze, under-14, -44kg. Under-21 female team silver— Kate, Eve, Amber.
Liberty Blake, bronze, under-18, -59kg. Girls’ under-14 team bronze — Skyla Handley, Ruby Alderson, Millie Gates
Boys’ under-14 team bronze — Yanic Voican, Francesco Corrias, Kai Liddle.
On the same day some of the younger squad members also attended the Scottish international open. The following results were achieved: Coco Wood, bronze, girls’ 12-13 kumite. Tyler Wilkinson got through four rounds to take bronze, while Charlie Jackson took bronze in the kata and bronze in the individual kumite.
