Hundreds of spectators flocked to Penrith AFC’s Frenchfield Park Stadium on Tuesday when a visiting Carlisle United side fielded several new summer signings.
And Herald photographer Fred Wilson was there to capture the action as Zach Clough netted a debut second half hat-trick for United after another of their recent acquisitions, Tristan Abrahams, had given the visitors a fifth minute lead.
Carlisle head coach Chris Beech had fielded two completely different elevens either side of the interval and the League 2 team eventually ran out 8-0 winners.
But Penrith manager Dave Hewson insisted after the game: “I’m not disheartened, we knew it was going to be a tough test. I’ll take the positives from the first 35 minutes and know that’s something I can build on and work on.”
Penrith kick off their Northern League Division I campaign on Saturday, July 31, at home to Ashington (3pm kick-off).
