A pedestrian in her 60s was flown to hospital following a collision with a van in Penrith.
The incident took place at around 10.45am on Devonshire Street between HSBC and the Musgrave Monument.
The collision involved a white van, which is understood to have been driven by a young man, and the woman.
It is believed the woman had a head injury.
Emergency services confirmed the Great North Air Ambulance Service was involved.
Police, BEEP Doctors and the ambulance service were also in attendance.
There was congestion in the town centre for several hours afterwards as police turned northbound traffic on King Street.
