Eden’s Helen Skelton suffered a wardrobe mishap during her Argentine tango – but it didn’t stop her and dance partner Gorka Marquez.
Helen tripped and caught her heel in her gorgeous blue sequinned dress, ripping the material – but she managed it with skill and the pair continued their dance to Here Comes The Rain Again by The Eurythmics without barely another misstep.
It didn’t stop the judges praising her performance and she managed to score 37 out of 40. Craig pointed out some technical faults, but gave it as much praise as he was able to, Motsi said she loved the intensity – and surprisingly, she got the lowest score from Shirley with an 8.
It was the second dance of the semi-final show. The first, a waltz, was a risk for Helen as she’s always performed better in faster numbers, but her development during the series really showed. She was slightly stiff in some parts, but again the judges were full of praise and the pair got 35.
Hamza Yassin tops the leaderboard with 76, while Helen and Gorka are fourth with 72. Will Mellor is in last place with 70.
Prior to her second dance, Gorka surprised her with messages from friends and family in Cumbria – the pair have been rehearsing in Yorkshire this week as Helen has been presenting the live Channel 5 series Winter on the Farm.
Among the good luck messages were her children, who asked her to bring the glitterball home.
