A Lake District country inn and micro-brewery has been sold to a hotel group.
Brackenrigg Inn and Brewery in Ullswater was put on the market for £2.1 million by commercial real estate firm Colliers.
The 15-bedroom inn, set in six acres, has been owned by business partners Garry Smith and John Welch since 1996. It also features an 85-cover bar and restaurant with outdoor seating.
During their ownership, the pair have reconfigured and upgraded the property, converting a former stable building into a micro-brewery which today generates 200 barrels a year.
After almost three successful decades, they have sold the Brackenrigg Inn to retire.
The business has been sold to an anonymous hotel group which is expanding its portfolio of leisure businesses in the Lake District.
Colliers said the group was not ready to make an announcement at this time.
Neil Thomson, associate director in the hotel agency team at Colliers, said: “The Brackenrigg is unique, full of character and boasts an excellent trading position which draws in many local and national visitors.
“Garry and John have done an excellent job developing the inn into the much-loved business it is today and I am really pleased we were able to find a suitable buyer for them. We wish them a happy retirement.”
