The Perfect Pitch: Cumbrian campsites battle to be crowned the best in new Channel 4 show

An Eden campsite is in the running to be named the county’s best in Channel 4’s latest reality TV show.

The Perfect Pitch sees an eclectic bunch of camping connoisseurs tour Britain’s top beauty spots and judge them on criteria to see which will win the top spot.

This week, Cumbria is in the limelight, with a different campsite featured every weeknight.

The five sites featured are:

  • Low Sizergh Farm, near Kendal.
  • Park Foot, near Pooley Bridge.
  • Burns Farm, near Keswick.
  • Braystone Bank, near Millom.
  • Skelwith Fold, near Ambleside.

The campers also wakeboard on Ullswater, tackle Honister Slate Mine’s Via Ferrata and take a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, also known as the La’al Ratty.

Tonight’s episode will feature Park Foot, near Pooley Bridge, which has seen one of its busiest seasons yet.

Heather Bland, 26, a receptionist at the family-run site who features on the programme, said: “I’m a little nervous to see myself on TV as I’ve never done anything like this before.

“I actually hit my mic when we were filming but they made me feel really comfortable – I guess it must happen a lot.

“Fingers crossed we do well. I’d like to be in the top two and to win it would be even better.”

Results will be announced throughout the week with a winner being crowned on Friday’s episode.

The real winner seems to have been the Cumbrian landscape though.

Featured camping enthusiasts Carolynne, 63, and David Selway, 68, said: “The most memorable thing for us was the stunning scenery that takes your breath away.

“It’s unspoilt which is the real attraction – and whatever the weather, and we saw it in beautiful sunshine and torrential rain, it gives off an atmosphere that is awe-inspiring.”

The first episode of The Perfect Pitch began on Monday and runs weekdays at 5.30pm on Channel 4. It is also available on demand.
