A new Tesco Express outlet looks set to be coming to Penrith.
Tesco Stores Limited has applied to Westmorland and Furness Council for a premises licence for a convenience store on land next to Carleton Hall Farm, Carleton Avenue.
The application relates to the sale of alcohol and provision of late night refreshment until midnight from Monday to Sunday, with the store opening daily at 6am.
North Lakes Estates Limited was granted approval for the erection of a convenience store, including associated operations, on land at Carleton Hall Farm earlier this year.
The store is set to be served by 19 car parking spaces, one disabled parking space and two cycle-parking bays.
At the time when the planning application was originally being consulted upon, Penrith Town Council was told the applicant had been in discussions with a national retailer who had expressed an interest in operating from the store.
The retailer was said to be satisfied that there was sufficient demand for the store — from passing trade, existing housing development and housing development in the pipeline.
