Roadworks: More than a dozen for Eden drivers to look out for

Drivers in and around Eden will have 14 National Highways road closures to watch out for.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 12 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

  • A66, until 5pm June 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Sandford, Appleby-In-Westmorland, Verge works for works access for plant.
  • M6, until 7pm June 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 36 to 37, Lane three closure for cyclic activities safety fence, drainage, sign, electrical, soft estate and sweeping and litter maintenance and asset inspections.
  • A66, until 3.30pm June 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 westbound, Penrith, Short Stop Verge works for boreholes.
  • A66, until 3.30pm June 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 westbound, Penrith, Short Stop Verge works for boreholes.
  • A66, until 3.30pm June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Warcop, traffic signals for survey works.
  • A66, until 5pm June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 westbound, Appleby, Short Stop Verge works for works access signs for plant and safe access to works.
  • A66, until 5am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Redhills to Brougham and M6, junction 40 northbound and southbound, Lane closures for survey works.
  • A66, until 3.30pm July 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Skirsgill Depot to Kemplay Bank Roundabout, Ring Management and Lane closure for inspection works.
  • A66, until 5am August 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Appleby to Brough, Lane closures and traffic signals for survey works.
  • M6, until 6am November 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 39 to junction 40, Various closures and contraflow for bridge deck repairs.
  • A66, until 8pm December 31 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 40 Roundabout and northbound, main carriageway and A66 Kemplay bank TM Embargo every Friday daytime.
  • A66, from 8am June 20 to 11pm June 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Kirkby Thore, traffic signals in place for SU works (Network Plus).

And National Highways is alerting drivers to the following in the coming weeks:

  • M6, from 8pm June 25 to 7pm June 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 39 to 40, Lane three closures for multiple cyclic activities in centre reserve and asset inspections.
  • M6, from 8am to 11pm on July 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 41 possible congestion due to Skelton Show.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
