Roadworks which have seen streets in the centre of Penrith closed to traffic have caused misery for motorists this morning.
A closure at Middlegate has left the town centre relatively quiet and local residents reported long queues and two minor road accidents one at the Sandgate-Fell Lane junction at around 11am and another at Roper Street at around 1.15pm.
The closures were put in place for emergency work by Electricity North West and are due to be finished by midnight tomorrow, Friday August 25.
