A roadside grass fire broke out on the M6 southbound this afternoon as temperatures in Cumbria inched towards 30C.
Traffic was subject to a 60mph limit on the approach with warnings in place for motorists.
Two crews from Penrith attended the scene between Junctions 40 Penrith and Junction 39 Shap at around 4.30pm.
