A man had to be rescued after he fell into a ditch while out walking near his home.
The man, in his 60s, had gone for a walk in Scaleby on Thursday but fell into the foliage-covered ditch.
He was unable to get out of the ditch and a passer-by, who found him two hours later, could not help get him out either.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 4.15pm and although two vehicles were sent from its base, team members living close to the incident, including a team doctor, arrived first and were able to assess any injuries and help the man out of the ditch.
He returned home with the help of his family.
