A power failure has affected the Omega Proteins site in Penrith this morning, a spokesman for the Leo Group, which owns and operates the site, has announced.
In a statement issued just before 1pm today, May 18, the company said: “Unfortunately, our Omega Proteins site in Penrith is currently dealing with a power failure and is without full operating power to the site.
“This appears to be an unplanned and external issue affecting the power supply to our site, caused by works being carried out by Electricity North West.
“We are continuing to investigate and do everything we can to rectify the issues and restore the power to site, whilst commissioning our standby generators which we hope will be operational in the next 30-45 minutes.
“The Environment Agency has also been informed and will be kept updated. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will keep you informed through our Facebook page and release more information as soon as it is available to us.”
