Eden police are warning residents to be on their guard following an increase of burglaries in Penrith and surrounding areas.
Sheds in Penruddock and Shap have been broken into with sheep scales and hurdles being taken and an off-road bike being stolen.
In addition, a GPS tracker has been stolen from a tractor on a farm near Armathwaite, while there was a reported attempt break-in at the Scaws area of Penrith on the afternoon of Monday, October 9.
Police have also been notified of break-ins at Park Close, Penrith, overnight on Tuesday.
Eden Police said: “Please can all residents be extra vigilant and ensure basic crime security measures are put in place such as: Keeping doors locked even if you are in; keeping valuables out of sight; keep security lights switched on; keep a light on indoors if you are out for the evening.”
Residents should also make sure outhouses are securely locked and alarms and CCTV systems should be checked to see if they are in working order with warning signs clearly displayed
