A Cumbrian estate agents has helped spread some Christmas joy to people struggling this festive season.
The Salvation Army, on Hunter Lane in Penrith, welcomed the donation of new and unwrapped toys from PFK for its Christmas Present Appeal which works to ensure that no child wakes up without a present on Christmas Day, supporting families who struggle to make ends meet and who would otherwise be unable to afford a gift for their children.
Joining the festive fun of Christmas Jumper Day last, Thursday, the team at PFK were encouraged to bring in a toy to contribute to The Salvation Army’s appeal in order to wear their Christmas jumper, with more than half of the Penrith-based team joining in.
Gifts were handed over to the church and community centre in time for presents being distributed to families through social workers and schools this week.
Every year Salvation Army churches across Cumbria and the United Kingdom ask people to donate new toys and gifts to its appeal for children whose families cannot put food on the table, heat their homes or pay their bills.
Major Carole Donaldson, church leader of The Salvation Army in Penrith, said: “The Salvation Army’s present appeal is an opportunity for people in our communities to embrace the spirit of Christmas and give to families and individuals who have very little.
“Every year we welcome donations of all kinds and rely on them to ensure that we can continue to provide for our local community.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to PFK and everyone else that who donates and enables us to continue running our Christmas Present Appeal, being able to serve without discrimination and continue to be at the heart of our community.
“Our appeal not only eases financial pressures but helps bring the joy of Christmas into homes everywhere.”
Todd Lindsay, marketing and communications manager for PFK, said: “It was a real pleasure to support the Salvation Army with their Christmas appeal this year.
“By doing so, we hope to spread joy to children across the region. We believe every child should have something to open on Christmas morning, so we wanted to take this opportunity as a company to pool our resources and contribute to this meaningful cause.”
