A temporary road closure in Penrith town centre is continuing to cause problems for some drivers this morning.
Cumbria Highways put the five-day closure in place from yesterday, shutting Castlegate from its junction with Corn Market, up to Castlegate roundabout, for maintenance work on the road.
Roads are clearly signposted as closed, with a diversion in place.
However, some drivers are still heading from the south end of the town towards the Musgrave Monument, where they are being forced to turn around and retrace their route.
Yesterday saw several hours of heavy traffic queuing through the town centre as motorists were caught off guard by the shutdown.
