A Penrith man has appeared in court accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in the town.
Anthony Scafie, aged 34, of Arnison Court, Southend Road, faces two charges.
One alleges that he unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to a man with intent to do so. A second charge alleges that Scafie had a quantity of class B controlled drug amphetamine illegally in his possession.
Both charges arise out of an incident on 20th April this year.
No pleas to the allegations were formally entered by Scafie when he appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court.
His case was sent by a district judge, John Temperley, to Carlisle Crown Court. Scafie is due to appear there in front of a judge on 27th November.
In the meantime he was granted bail, with one condition prohibiting him from having any contact with the complainant in the case.
