Penrith couple Reg and Lily Walker celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary — 70 years of marriage — recently.
They were very excited to receive a personal message of congratulations from King Charles and the Queen Consort.
Celebrations continued with family and friends at Gianni’s Pizzeria on the Saturday after the date of their marriage, March 28.
Reg, 93, and Lily, 91, met through folk dancing in Nottinghamshire, where Lily was a primary school teacher and Reg a school caretaker.
The couple, who have a mutual love of gardening, moved to the Penrith area in the 1990s.
They live at Musgrave Street in the town and have four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
