Meanwhile, two former Penrith town centre shops have got new owners.
Building contractor FS Potts & Sons has bought the former newsagent Corner Shop premises on King Street and Bowland Tree Consultancy is moving into a vacant property on Castlegate.
Brenda Davidson, who ran The Corner Shop, has had the property on the market since October 2018.
She said that with Brexit and COVID-19, the commercial site became hard to sell.
FS Potts & Sons, based in Appleby, said plans for its redevelopment were not yet finalised.
Brenda said: “I’m happy to have sold it of course but, sad to say goodbye to that part of my life. It was a great shop.”
Bowland Tree Consultancy, an independent arboriculture consultancy practice, plans to open in July as part of an expansion scheme.
The Preston-based firm was founded in 2009 and the new site will its second office.
A company spokeswoman said: “We are all really excited to open up the new premises in Penrith.”
“Our director Phillip Harris is especially pleased. He is always saying what a pretty town it is, with a nice castle.”
Both sales were handled by Mere Commercial.
