Neil Hudson has revealed who he is backing in the race to be leader of the Conservative Party.
Dr Hudson, MP for Penrith and the Border, said he was backing Tom Tugendhat to be the new leader of the Conservative Party and the next Prime Minister.
Eleven Tory MPs have announced their intentions to be party leader and therefore the PM, after Boris Johnson announced his resignation last Thursday.
Carlisle MP John Stevenson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service last week that he would be supporting Tom Tugendhat in the upcoming race to replace Mr Johnson.
And Dr Hudson has joined him this week in giving his backing to the MP for Tonbridge and Malling.
Dr Hudson said: “I am backing Tom Tugendhat for PM as he has the background, international experience and integrity to lead us. He understands issues facing both rural and urban communities and he can unite our country moving forward.”
He echoes similar sentiments from Mr Stevenson last week when he said that Mr Tugendhat is “someone who can unite my party.”
Since the beginning of the leadership race, Mr Tugendhat’s campaign slogan has been for a clean start in British politics.
