A mountain biker was airlifted to hospital after injuring his leg following a fall in the Lake District.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team were called out on Tuesday to assist after the man who had fallen from his bike at High Cap, Above Kirkland, and was unable to continue.
Team volunteers responded with two vehicles, but due to the severity of the suspected injury, they requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for Penrith mountain rescue said: “The aircrew were able to land 400m from the casualty site and were joined shortly afterwards by the team.”
The casualty was stretchered to the helicopter and flown to hospital for treatment.
The rescue mission involved seven Penrith volunteers and lasted two hours and 30 minutes.
