A man accused of causing serious injury to an Eden man by dangerous driving on the A66 has appeared in court.
Lucas Keane, 25, faces three charges brought after an early morning collision close to Whinfell, near Penrith, on September 14 last year.
Two people were reported by police to have been taken to hospital following a collision at 6.10am which involved a Volvo V40 and a Ford B-Max.
The driver of the Ford — a man aged in his 50s from the Appleby area — was said to have been taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with a back injury.
Keane appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today.
He entered no plea to an allegation of causing serious injury to John Mark Jackson by the dangerous driving of a Volvo V40 on the A66 at Whinfell.
Keane pleaded not guilty to two other allegations — driving with a proportion of a cocaine metabolite above the specified limit; and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
His case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court. Keane, of Queensway, Grantham, Lincolnshire, is due to appear in front of a judge on May 13, and in the meantime was granted bail.
