A man accused of involvement in a spate of commercial burglaries at a business park near Penrith is to stand trial next year.
Keiran Heslop, 29, faced a charge sheet containing four allegations when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning.
It is alleged Heslop entered three businesses at Redhills as a trespasser, between June 4 and June 8 this year, and stole vehicle keys from both Holland & Oxley and Well Being; and also went into Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership as a trespasser with intent to steal.
A fourth charge alleges that he stole a Ford Transit van belonging to Northern Vehicle Hire between the same dates.
The court Heslop stood accused of involvement in a “sequence of burglaries at the same place at the same time”.
During a short hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the three charges of burglary and one allegation of theft.
He is now due to stand trial in front of a jury. This is due to take place in the week of February 21 and, it is estimated, will last one to two days.
A timetable for the progression of the case was outlined by Gerard Rogerson for the prosecution.
In the meantime Heslop, of New Lane, Denton, Darlington, was remanded in custody by Judge Barker.
