A man accused of the sexual touching and a physical assault of a girl has appeared in court.
Jacek Kuliga, 39, faced two charges when he appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today.
One alleges the sexual assault of a girl in her early teens and a second alleges that he assaulted the girl, causing her actual bodily harm.
Both charges arise out of alleged incidents in Penrith.
During a short court hearing, Kuliga was assisted by an interpreter and indicated that he would be pleading not guilty to both allegations.
After hearing an outline of the allegations from a prosecutor, magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court.
Kuliga is due to appear there in front of a judge on September 6.
In the meantime he was granted bail on a number of conditions, one of which prohibits contact with named people, while another bans him from entering Penrith except with the written consent of a solicitor.
