A 31-year-old man from Appleby has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire in the town last week.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service attended to the blaze, which was in a private dwelling, on The Sands, Appleby, and extinguished it, in the early hours of 21st October
Police are now investigating the incident as arson.
The 31-year-old has since been released under investigation.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: “Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage in the area to please get in touch.”
