The M6 northbound was closed between junctions 39 and 40 after over 12 vehicles were involved in a collision.
The incident, between Shap and Penrith, happened at around 4.45pm yesterday, January 8 and the road was closed for around three hours.
The section of the motorway was closed for around three hours following the incident and drivers were urged to avoid the area and use diversionary routes.
