A 1977 Star Wars figure of Luke Skywalker is set to make a sky-high price for Mitchells.

The figure is one of the lots in its next vintage and antique toy sale on Thursday August 12.

Although its estimate is £50-£80, auctioneer Ewan Duff believes the unprecedented level of pre-sale interest could mean the figure will sell for as much as £3,000 to £5,000, making it the highest price ever achieved for a single lot in a Mitchells toy sale.

Ewan Duff said the toy was “the debut of all debuts for Palitoy on Luke Skywalker”, the figure is a 12 back A version of the toy released at the time of the first ever Star Wars movie in 1977.

The figure comes with an action lightsaber and is in pristine condition having never been opened and is still in its original bubble packaging.

Other themed toys for sale include a 1980s Kenner Star Wars AT-AT Walker, with an estimate of £30-£50 and a collection of 150 McDonalds Happy Meal Snoopy toys of various sizes which could sell for £50-£80.

A group of nine hand sculpted John Wayne collectable resin statues, all displayed under glass domes has an estimate of £30-£40.

Dolls are also expected to be amongst the most valuable lots in the sale.

A 1970s hard vinyl Sasha Gregor doll with blonde rooted hair, wearing a blue corduroy jump suit and a Sasha baby doll also with blonde rooted hair, wearing dungarees could make £180-£220 for the pair.

Among the 15 lots of Action Man for sale, including outfits and a Skyhawk glider, is a group of three Palitoy Action Man dolls with original boxes, comprising a Talking Commander with pull cord and voice intact, an Action Soldier and an Adventurer which is likely to sell for £70-£100.

Another group of five Palitoy Action Man dolls, four with Eagle Eye action, all wearing different outfits including Mercury 10 and Ski Patrol may make £50-£80.

Two 1950s marionette Pelham Puppets ‘School Master’ and ‘Dutch Girl’ with movable mouths and retaining their original cardboard boxes are valued at £50-£80 for the pair.

Among the soft toys are four groups of 1950s-1970s Steiff animals including a group of four 1950s-70s Steiff plush animals comprising Rocky mountain goat, Zicky goat, Snucki mountain sheep and llam’a could make £40-£60.

Models include a red Dinky Foden 14-ton Mobilgas tanker lorry displayed in its blue striped picture box should make £70-£100.

A group of four Britains 1:32 scale die-cast models comprising a Valtra Valmet 115 city tractor, a Vicon RF 130 round baler, a Krone round bale wagon, and a Volac 820 bale wrapper has an estimate of £50-£80.

Among the model locomotives and train sets for sale is a Marklin HO scale Italian electric locomotive (3035) displayed with its original cardboard picture box valued at £40-£60.

A cased set of 50 pewter ingots depicting ‘Great British locomotives’ marked ‘The National Railway Museum Inaugural Edition’ is expected to make £50-£80.

The sale will be on view in Mitchells saleroom on Tuesday August 10, from 10am to 5pm, Wednesday August 11 10am-7pm and throughout the sale.

An illustrated catalogue can also be viewed online now at www.the-saleroom.com/Mitchells where salegoers can also register to bid live during the auction or leave automatic bids in advance if unable to attend the sale.
