Legal action could be taken against North West Ambulance Service for a failure of duty to Alston Moor if it presses ahead with plans to axe the town’s ambulance and make the emergency medical technicians who operate it redundant, a meeting heard.
Parish councillor Elaine Grew said a community group was being set up in order to take NWAS to task.
“There are setting up a group which will be known as SAMS, which stands for Save Alston Moor’s Services,” Mrs Grew told a recent meeting of the parish council.
She said the group was getting a limited company together, registered at Companies House, and they will have directors and will be looking for membership.
Parish councillors were told that not only will NWAS be taken to task, but should things not be right in future with any of the Moor’s other services it will also be able to act for them.
Mrs Grew said they were raising money for the ambulance, but it was not yet certain where it will be spent.
One possibility would be for it to pay for legal action.
