Lake District’s Instagram star Lucie Graham says sheep are ‘friends not food’

Sheep are “friends not food” says social media star Lucie Graham.

The 26-year-old Lake District native runs an Instagram account, @jamieandted, for her two pet sheep, which boasts over 14,400 followers.

Along with posting adorable pictures of the pair, she hopes the account can also help promote a plant-based lifestyle, environmentalism, and animal rights.

Lucie said: “I love Jamie and Ted with my entire heart so it’s been really nice to be able to share their personalities with people via social media and I think a lot of people around the world have also fallen in love with them.

“Jamie and Ted are my babies. Jamie is a Herdwick and I’ve had her since she was 10 days old — we have a very close bond.”

She decided to start the social media account after she was inundated with messages from friends telling her how they were amazed at seeing the sheep cuddle up to their owner.

Lucie was initially confused as to why people did not think that sheep could be pets.

A committed vegan, Lucie’s ethos is part of her fame and the account has been shared by celebrities such as actor Lucy Davis and musician Moby.

Beyond her sheep, Lucie looks after holiday houses for a living and owns a business creating 3D tours of properties.

She’s also in the process of setting up an online store selling vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics and gifts.

Lucie added: “I have a lot of big plans for the future. Watch this space!”
