A Lake District post office is set to close today, July 27, it has been announced.
The Post Office, based at Norbrock House, Bampton, near Haweswater, is set to shut at noon following the resignation of its postmaster.
A Post Office spokesman said: “The postmaster for Bampton has resigned and the branch is due to temporarily close today at noon.
“We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are working hard to try to restore service as soon as possible.”
The role has been advertised and an outreach Post Office is also being considered – where a nearby postmaster provides the service at a location in Bampton.”
In the meantime, customers are reminded there are alternative branches nearby, including Shap or Askham mobile.

- Askham Mobile Post Office, Askham Community Village Hall, Car Park, Askham, CA10 2PG, open Tuesday: 1.45–2.05pm.
