Trophies won by a legendary Lakes fell runner are among the highlights in Mitchells next antiques and fine art sale.
It takes place from Wednesday to Friday, September 13-15, and includes some 1,300 lots.
Bill “King of the Fells” Teasdale died in January, aged 98.
He was born at Todcrofts Farm, Caldbeck, in 1924 and came from true Cumbrian farming stock.
He went on to become a sporting hero with his outstanding fell running prowess, winning many races over a long sporting career.
Items for sale from his estate include a substantial quantity of fell running trophies and medals as well as other personal items such as pocket watches, photographs and furniture.
Other sale highlights include a Queen Anne Britannia standard silver tankard, possibly by William Mathew of London circa 1703-04 and weighing 614 grams. It has an auction estimate of £1,000 to £1,500.
A George III silver lidded tankard by John Foster II London 1776, repousse with scroll work and flower heads and measuring 22cm high, is expected to sell for £800 to £1,200.
A Nathaniel Mills snuff box, made in Birmingham in 1838 and depicting Windsor Castle, has an estimate of £300 to £400.
Jewellery includes a rare Cartier 18ct gold brooch in the design of a Panther with 39 round brilliant diamonds and an emerald “eye” with an estimate of £6,000 to £8,000.
Lots are on view in the saleroom from Sunday, between 11am and 3pm; and then on Monday and Tuesday between 10am and 5pm and throughout each sale day.
