
A Kirkby Stephen man has been placed on the sex offenders register.
Brian Richardson, 57, of Quarry Close, appeared before Carlisle’s magistrates’ court today.
Richardson was prosecuted in America for child sex offences and was given a five-year jail term for each offence to be served concurrently. He served three years in jail.
Cumbria Constabulary, represented by Matthew Hopkins, applied for a sexual offenders order for Richardson.
Satisfied all of the relevant conditions were met, District Judge Temperley placed Richardson on the Sexual Offenders Register for an indefinite period of time.
While he was working in the United States of America he was prosecuted for online solicitation of a minor aged under 14 and two counts of possession of child pornography on October 31, 2019.
He was convicted in the 382nd Judicial District Court in Rockwell County, Texas.
From 1992 until 2021 he was working in Dallas, Texas, and Fort Worth, Texas, he worked as a mechanical engineer of design and related technologies tooling technician, then in a self-employed capacity in design consultancy in Dallas, Forth Worth, Metroplex, returning to this country this year.
