Two Cumbrian women have opened a new shop in the centre of Penrith to help people create a beautiful home for themselves and guests.
Home & More Interiors store in Corn Market is the passion of sisters-in-law Joanne and Susan Fisher, who provide advice and bespoke services, as well as an amazing range of carefully sourced home furnishings for the homeowner and holiday-let proprietor.
Situated at the gateway to the Lake District, in the heart of the Eden Valley and with a growing property market, as well as holiday accommodation, Penrith was the ideal location for a new homestyle business.
Joanne said: “When we decided to start the business, we did think about running from home and online.
“However, we feel it is important to see the quality and colours, especially of soft furnishings.
“There is something about the experience of choosing items for your home that can only be achieved by seeing materials and colours for yourself.
“When we saw the property in Corn Market had come on to the market, we both knew this was the perfect location for Home & More Interiors.”
The premises had previously been a homestyle shop, situated in the centre of the town near the bandstand. Joanne said: “The feedback we have had from customers is that they are delighted to be able to come into our shop and find something they haven’t seen elsewhere.
“We believe people are looking for independent shops that offer something different and great personal service. Susan and I really enjoy sourcing items for the shop, providing customers with something a little different.
“We have mixed our love of the countryside, farming, floral and more contemporary furnishings to bring quality, affordable, unusual and bespoke items to add a special finishing touch to your home or as a gift.”
Joanne has a passion for property and furnishings and has previously run a successful antiques shop and florist.
“I am drawn to fabrics, furnishing, flowers and something fun to add a little extra. I have renovated various homes, several holiday properties and houses and am keen to share ideas, tips and offer free advice to help bring your ideas to fruition.
“Sometimes people just want to freshen up the look of their home with a new lamp or cushions, and others are looking to completely re-design their interiors.
“We are happy to provide interior design support and advice and come to a customer’s home or property by arrangement.”
Homes & More Interiors also has a selection of fabrics so customers can co-ordinate curtains and cushions. Joanne added: “You can bring in a paint colour or a swatch of material so we can help you co-ordinate your new interior look. I love the interior design aspect and have helped customers create the look for holiday accommodation, as well as for their new homes.
“It is all about bringing the look together — just a few items and lighting can pull together a new design or refresh and update a room.”
