Irish country music returns to Rosley Village Hall on Sunday.
The pandemic didn’t provide much good news for the Irish music scene, however, for the Country Cousins, Gerry Guthrie and Stuart Moyles, it certainly did.
With limited audiences returning for live events, the County Mayo lads were brought together for the first time on the same stage – and proved to be a quite the combination!
Gerry Guthrie has been fronting his five-piece Country Band since 2010. During this time he has toured extensively throughout Ireland. Gerry’s success on the country music scene in Ireland, England and Scotland, has in a relatively short time made him a household name.
To date, Gerry has been awarded Male Vocalist of The Year, Album of The Year, Musician of The Year and Vocal Performance of The Year at various music and entertainment awards in Ireland.
In the years preceding the launch of his own band, Gerry worked as lead guitar player in several popular Irish bands, working with country greats including Sandy Kelly, Louise Morrissey, Shawn Cuddy, Martin Cuffe and toured alongside the late George Hamilton IV.
Stuart Moyles was also born and raised in County Mayo. Stuart has carved out a huge career on Ireland’s Social Dancing scene, and is in demand like no other in his field!
Over the past number of years, the popular singer has been invited to play on music weekends and concerts with the cream of Ireland’s Country artists with the likes of Nathan Carter, Michael English, and Jimmy Buckley.
Stuart’s hit songs to date, include Westport Town, The Streets Of Galway, Lay Down Sally and Rhythm of The Falling Rai”. During the pandemic lockdowns both Gerry and Stuart found themselves unable to work their usually very busy circuits and took the opportunity to get together and plan some shows – however, they didn’t realise just how popular their new show would be.
On Sunday, the country duo will be bringing their show to Rosley Village Hall for a second visit after their sell-out show there in October 2021.
The high energy show will include songs from both Gerry and Stuart’s back catalogue of well-known songs along with a mixture of country classics made famous by people like Charley Pride, George Jones and of course some of the all-time great Irish favourites.
This is a show not to be missed, and you can get one of the last remaining tickets by calling Adele today on 077 06597132.
