Hat-trick of awards for Penrith-based housebuilder

A Penrith-headquartered housebuilder is celebrating after completing an awards hat-trick at a prestigious ceremony.

Genesis Homes scooped the main award of Homebuilder of the Year at last night’s Cowgills North West Homebuilder Awards, making it three trophies on the night after winning the gong for most impressive Sustainability Impact for its pioneering EcoGen pilot project alongside the trophy managing director John Blue secured as Rising Star of the Year.

The winners of each category are put forward for the Housebuilder of the Year award – the champion of champions in essence – and Genesis Homes’ chief executive Nicky Gordon said he was blown away by his team’s success.

He said: “It’s been an incredible few years at Genesis Homes as we have invested in and grown the business on all fronts. To receive these three awards, particularly the Housebuilder of the Year, is recognition of the hard work and high standards of each and every member of the team.

“It’s nice just to be shortlisted alongside some exceptional housebuilders who do the region extremely proud, so to come away with three trophies is pretty overwhelming.

“We build each home with care and passion to ensure we deliver the best possible workmanship for our clients, and to get this amazing recognition is extremely humbling.”

The Homebuilders Awards celebrates and recognises the best SME housebuilders and developers across the North West.

Genesis’ EcoGen pilot development in the village of Calthwaite is leading the way in sustainable housing with the construction of 16 smart homes fully powered by renewable energy sources.

Its innovative approach to significantly reducing homeowners’ carbon emissions around the home while keeping residents’ energy bills to a minimum at a time of crippling price hikes earned the Sustainability Impact of the Year Award.

Meanwhile, John collected the Rising Star of the Year Award for the key role he has played in Genesis Homes’ rapid expansion, which recently earned him a promotion to managing director.

John said: “I’m at a loss for words because you never really expect to win these types of things, but I’m so thankful and grateful to Nicky for placing his trust and faith in me to play such a hands-on role in the business.

“We have an outstanding team made up of talented and passionate people, and all three of these awards have been earned due to their enthusiasm, diligence and desire to be the best.”

Genesis Homes representatives received their awards from actor John Thomson at a ceremony in Manchester.
