A man from Great Salkeld has appeared in court charged with the false imprisonment and assault of woman in the village last week.
Barry O’Mahony, 46, of Mullion Cottage, Church Lane, is charged with unlawfully and injuriously imprisoning the woman, detaining her against her will, at Great Salkeld on Wednesday January 26 and Thursday January 27.
He is also charged with assaulting the woman, causing her actual bodily harm, on the same occasion.
O’Mahony appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday, represented by defence solicitor Anthony Wilson.
No pleas were entered to the charges and he was committed to Carlisle Crown Court.
District Judge John Temperley remanded O’Mahony in custody until his next appearance before the court which will be a plea and trail preparation hearing scheduled to take place at Carlisle Crown Court on February 28.
