Four fire crews spent four hours tackling a blaze at a home in North Stainmore.
They were called at around 6.15pm last night to the incident, off the B6276.
Three fire engines from Cumbria and an engine from Durham attended, plus the fire services joint incident command unit.
Fire fighters used two jets, two hose reels, a compressed air foam system jet, one short extension ladder, one roof ladder and small tools to fight the fire. Crews were in attendance for over four hours.
