Heavy and persistent rain from tomorrow morning through to Sunday is forecast and the Environment Agency is warning it could mean flooding across Cumbria.
The weather outlook for the next few days is for bands of continuous downpours and it is predicted that following a wet, few weeks rivers will react and reach flood warning levels.
The Environment Agency says it is likely to be issuing flood alerts for most of Cumbria and levels will be monitored over the coming days.
Agency staff will be undertaking inspections of defence structures and are removing blockages from debris screens.
The Environment Agency suggests people sign up to the flood warning service and devise a flood plan for themselves and family.
