There are only five days left to save an Eden village pub.
Villagers are rallying round to buy the Miners Arms in Nenthead – which closed in 2020 – and launched a campaign to raise £95,000 to buy it to turn it into a community-owned pub.
Residents came together to form community benefit society known as the Miners Arms Community Pub Ltd. It has already raised a significant amount by people buying community shares – but needs to find £15,000 in the next five days
The group applied to the Government’s Community Ownership Fund for a grant of over £360,000 and were expecting an answer last month.
However, all announcements about the fund have been put on hold by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities after the General Election was announced.
The share offer was launched on Saturday May 4, and closes on Saturday June 15.
Shares are £1 each with a minimum investment of 100 shares.
A spokesman said: “Owning shares means you will be a member of the Miners Arms Community Pub Ltd and will own a piece of this wonderful village.”
