Penrith Mountain Rescue Team have helped a father and son in its first callout of 2022.
Police called the team at around 2.50pm on New Year’s Day to Butterburn, Spadeaddam. to help a the man and his young son who were in difficulties in the nearby forest.
They were finding the terrain difficult and tiring and the youngster had fallen into a small bog.
The team were able to use the Phone Find tool with good signal from the walkers and managed to get a clear location.
The walkers were keen to make it out of the woods before night, so team members were able to talk them to the forest road and then find their way back to the main road while team members were making their way to the area.
As team members arrived on the scene, the pair had made their way to the main road where they were given a lift back to their car.
Nineteen team members were involved and were out for around two hours.
