Firefighters were called out to tackle a campfire that had spread in the open.
Penrith Fire Station said they were called at around 8pm yesterday. Saturday April 20, to land near Mosedale.
When the crew arrived, they found the fire had spread to a large area of grass and gorse.
It was believed that the people responsible had just left the area.
Penrith Fire Station said: “Luckily some people nearby had spotted the flames and smoke and called us out and we extinguished the fire.
“Once the fire was fully extinguished we tidied up and disposed of the mess these people had left which included glass bottles and bits of pallets that had been thrown into the beck and bushes.”
