Tim Hortons in Penrith

Excitement is building as work continues to transform Penrith’s old KFC building into a new fast food outlet – but bosses are keeping tight-lipped over its opening date.

Canadian company Tim Hortons has been fitting out the Bridge Lane site and the signs are up – with people anxious to find out when it will open its doors to customers for the first time.
It is hoped it will open later this month – but nothing has been confirmed.

It sells coffee, doughnuts, burgers and toasted sandwiches in its restaurant and drive-thru and the new outlet will employ up to 50 people.

What the new Tim Hortons in Penrith could look like

Tim Hortons has over 50 branches in the UK and Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “We have a huge fan base in the North of England, so we are particularly excited to bring Tim Hortons to Penrith for the first time.

The brand, known affectionately as Timmy’s, was founded in 1964 in Ontario and now has 4,500 stores.

The KFC branch closed its doors in May after the lease on the building ran out and was not renewed. At the time, KFC said it hoped it would reopen.
