Emergency services were called to help a mountain biker who had fallen near Armathwaite.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 2.55pm to Coombs Wood to assist in the operation by Cumbria police.
The 32-year-old biker had a suspected spinal injury.
Team members and two team doctors responded to the call and were assisted by a local BEEP Doctor.
Once the casualty had been assessed, team members then packaged and evacuate the casualty by stretcher from the woods to a team vehicle.
The casualty was then transferred to a road ambulance for transport to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary, for further assessment and treatment.
Twenty-nine members of Penrith Mountain Rescue attended and were on the scene for around two-and-a-half hours.
