An Eden village is shining bright for the festive season as part of a bid to raise cash for a new play area.
Light Up Langwathby has seen 30 households in the village pull out all the stops with a stunning array of outdoor Christmas lights.
Each has paid £3 to take part, and now a “trail” map taking in all the light displays in on sale in the village shop for £3.
The trail launches on Saturday 14 and runs until December 28, with a prize on offer for one lucky winner, announced on 29th.
All the money raised will go towards a bid by the Positive Langwathby Action Young (PLAY) group to raise £93,000 for a new play area in the village.
Chairman of the group Darren Todd told the Herald: “Anybody can travel to Langwathby, buy a map from the village shop and search the trail, voting for your favourite house, finding the letters and solving the secret word to win an amazing Christmas family hamper, donated by First Aid Specialist Training, based in Langwathby.”
