A man has admitted defrauding his employer to the tune of £1,300 while working as general manager at Eden village pub.
Adam Thorpe, 37, committed his crime over five months between September 1 2020, and January 31 the following year while employed in the trusted senior position at Calthwaite’s Globe Inn.
This occurred after pubs had been allowed to reopen amid tight COVID pandemic restrictions and a national lockdown.
At Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Thorpe, of Rusland Park, Kendal, admitted an offence of fraud by abuse of position to make a £1,300 gain for himself.
Magistrates, who heard details of his unlawful activity from a prosecutor, adjourned the case and ordered the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report.
Thorpe was granted unconditional bail and is due to receive his punishment at the magistrates’ court on January 27.
