A pensioner has appeared in court accused of historical and repeated indecent assaults on a girl.
Dennis Elwood (74), faces a total of four charges. Each alleges that he indecently assaulted a girl in the Penrith area more than a quarter of a century ago.
At least one of the charges is known as a “specimen” count and alleges that indecent assaults occurred on more than 10 occasions.
Elwood, of Great Salkeld, made his first court appearance in front of magistrates in Carlisle.
His case was sent by magistrates to Carlisle Crown Court and he is due to appear there in front of a judge on 10th October.
In the meantime has been granted unconditional bail.
