A North Stainmore man has appeared in court accused of firearms offences following an alleged incident at Buckingham Palace in May ahead of the King’s Coronation.
David Huber (60), Banks Gate Farm, faces a total of six charges.
Three allege the possession of ammunition without the necessary firearms certificate. One of these charges arises out of an incident in London on 2nd May when, it is alleged, Huber was in possession of .22 long rifle calibre cartridges. The other two relate to alleged offences in Cumbria on 8th and 18th May.
Huber stands further accused of illegally being in possession of a locking knife in public in London on 2nd May.
Huber is further alleged to have been in illegal possession of an incapacitation device, namely an electrical charge; and an offensive weapon, both in Cumbria on 8th May.
No pleas were formally entered to the charges faced by Huber when he appeared in front of magistrates in Carlisle on Tuesday. His case was sent to the city’s crown court, where he is due to appear in front of a judge on 3rd November.
In the meantime he has been granted conditional bail.
Police confirmed they had detained a man on 2nd May — four days before the King’s Coronation — following an alleged incident in the area of Buckingham Palace gates.
