Drivers are being warned that their journeys may take longer than usual around Penrith as thousands of people make their way to Kendal Calling.
The music festival, at Lowther Deer Park, opened its campsites at 9am today, Thursday August 1. Around 40,000 people are expected to attend.
Already thousands of festival-goers are on their way there.
Traffic queues are forming in Penrith and the major roundabouts are also experiencing congestion.
