Don’t miss the quarter final! Strictly Come Dancing fans warned after show time and date changes

Strictly Come Dancing fans are being warned not to miss the quarter final following changes made to the show’s time and date.

This week’s live show, which would normally takes place on Saturday night at 7.15pm, is instead taking place tonight, Friday December 2, at 8pm. The results will then be broadcast on Saturday December 3, at 5.40pm.

It is the first of two time and date changes affecting this week’s quarter final and next week’s semi final.

The schedule changes are to allow coverage of the FIFA World Cup on BBC one.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: “Strictly Come Dancing will continue to bring glitter, glamour and glorious dancing to homes across the nation throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“The quarter final of Strictly Come Dancing will now air live on Friday, December 2 and the semi-final will now air live on Sunday, December 11 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.”

Only six couples will be competing in the quarter final, which also doubles as musicals week and gives the professional dancers and their celebrity couples the chance to perform dances inspired by Broadway and the Westend’s biggest shows.

Cumbria’s sweetheart Helen Skelton and professional dance partner Gorka Marquez will be performing a couple’s choice dance to Mein Herr from Cabaret, a popular 1966 musical focused on a romance between a writer and cabaret singer.

The couple’s choice dance was introduced in 2018 and gives the stars freedom away from the traditional dances on the show. It allows the pairs approaching it to choose from one of three new styles that will best show off their celebrity’s moves.

Ahead of the quarter final, Gorka shared a clip on social media updating fans on the duo’s progress. In the video, Helen said: “I love this dance it’s really fun and it’s very different, I’ve never seen Gorka so happy.”

The pair warned fans not to miss the quarter final, and reminded them that the show would be going ahead a day early.

The Countryfile star also shared a behind the scenes snap getting ready on social media with professional dancer Lauren May Oakley. The pair can be seen getting their hair and make up done several hours early ahead of tonight’s big show.

Last week, Helen and Gorka had a rocky live show after judges were critical of their samba, leaving them with a score of 29. The duo will need all the votes they can get this week to stay in the competition.
