People travelling hundreds of miles to visit Cumbria have been fined by police.
Under the national lockdown regulations, people are permitted to travel in their local area, unless they fall under one of the exemptions, like travelling for work.
Eden officers used social media platform Twitter to say on Saturday, one of its teams had seen a vehicle that had travelled over 40 miles on the A66 at Appleby.
The two occupants were from different addresses.
The driver had a revoked licence and no insurance and both were reported for breaching coronavirus restrictions and the vehicle seized.
Yesterday, Eden police tweeted: “We have already issued fines to people breaching coronavirus restrictions this morning in the Glenridding and Aira Force areas.
“We have encountered people from places including Newcastle Upon Tyne, Richmond and Merseyside.”
